The pergola
Benches under a timber trellis, built for the park's hundredth year.
The story
For the park's hundredth year the city hired Confluence to plan improvements and built them in 2008 in two phases: new walks, a pergola, a picnic shelter, a restroom, the Helen McKennan bust and Potato Man. The pergola stands beside the gardens with benches beneath it, the shadiest seat in the park on a July afternoon.

Eight lit courts at the north end, on ground where tennis has been played since the park's second summer.

The wading pool
Free since 1929. The fourth pool on the site opened May 29, 2026, with a slide, sprays and a new bathhouse.
